Dan's Project Gets Greenlit

I love it when my friends finally get their big Hollywood break.

Case in point, my buddy Dan Castle (that's him on the left) just got his new film greenlit by Australia's Film Finance Corporation!

The film is called Newcastle and it's aimed squarely at the youth market. It showcases three things Australians hold dear - youth, sport and the beach.

The story is about twin brothers, Jesse and Fergus, who couldn't be more different. Jesse's pipe dream is to beat his American friend Andy in the Junior Surf Pro championship. Fergus just wants to fit in. The trio head off on a surf weekend where they confront each other, themselves and a tragedy.

Dan is the Writer/Director on the project, the producer is Naomi Wenck, and the executive producer is Charles Hannah (The World’s Fastest Indian).

Filming begins in early 2007, but my buddy Dan is in Sydney at the moment prepping some things for the shoot.

Congrats Dan! I'm SO proud of you!

Mom To The Rescue

On the next "Access Hollywood," Lindsay Lohan's mother, Dina Lohan, talks exclusively to Billy Bush about the harsh letter Lindsay received from a studio executive and comes to her defense. The interview airs on "Access Hollywood," Monday, July 31, 2006 and more information on this story is available at AccessHollywood.com .
Earlier this week, Lindsay received a letter from the CEO of the production company on her current project, "Georgia Rule," scolding her for her"...irresponsible and unprofessional" actions. In response to the letter, Dina told Bush, "The wording was ridiculous."
When asked if she thought the executive, James G. Robinson, was out of line and what brought on the unprecedented blast, Dina said, "I feel when you are 19 (years old) it is way out of line...Maybe he has personal issues with whomever and it came out with my child. I don't know him. I can't judge him. I don't think it was a smart thing to do to a young girl."
When asked if there was any truth to claims in the letter, Dina came to her daughter's defense saying, "Lindsay was in 105 (degree weather) saying, 'Mommy,I feel sick; like I am going to faint.' She took herself to the hospital. She has asthma and in extreme cold or heat you can't breathe." Dina added, "...I'm a mother and will do what I need to do to protect my child...I don't feel it should be aired out and everyone should know. It's personal."
When asked about accusations in the letter that Lindsay's "...ongoing all night heavy partying" was responsible for her not showing up on set, Dina said,"Lindsay gets to work late, ok...She's a human being. There was one day when she was late and they worked the schedule around her. Garry (Marshall, the film's director), Jane (Fonda, her co-star), everybody loves her."
In regards to Lindsay's status, Dina told "Access Hollywood," "As far as Lindsay's health is concerned, she's fine and she is back on set." Dina added to Bush, "She will win an Academy Award® for this picture...Justice!"
An Academy Award??? Is she on drugs too? Only in Hollywood.

'Work Out' At The Abbey

Have you seen Bravo's newest docu-drama, "Work Out" yet? The show follows the professional and personal lives of trainers at Sky Sport and Spa in Beverly Hills, California.
The six-episode, one-hour series will make viewers sweat as conflict, drama and emotional turmoil arise as the trainers strive to keep their valuable clients happy, their personal lives afloat, and meet owner Jackie Warner's infinite demands. "Work Out" can be seen every Tuesday, at 10pm PDT on BRAVO. Anyway...members of the cast (left to right) Doug, Rebecca and Andre made an appearance recently at The Abbey Food & Bar for a Bravo viewing party of the first episode.
That Doug sure is sexy isn't he? I wouldn't mind being his work out partner sometime. Wink, wink.

Classic Hollywood Quote

See An "ER" Star Live!

Wanna see a TV star, live on stage? Yes? Well, you're in luck!
Starting this Saturday (through September 3rd) former ER star, Noah Wyle, will portray artist Salvador Dali in Kira Obolensky's surreal comedy play "Lobster Alice," for the Blank Theatre Company, at the 2nd Stage Theatre in Hollywood.
Despite its apparent oddities, the play is based in reality. In 1946, surrealist Dali spent six weeks at Walt Disney Studios, commissioned to create "Destino," a short animated film. The play is a speculation on what might have transpired between Dali and the animator assigned to work with him — portrayed by Nicholas Brendon. The fantasy also blends in elements of "Alice in Wonderland" through the character of studio secretary Alice Horowitz (Dorie Barton). The four-member cast also includes Michael Grant Terry.
The best part is that tickets are only $22 to $28 per person. Talk about a great deal!

Tionne Myles: Simply Stunning

La La Land is full of beautiful people, but every-so-often there's one that blows everyone else away.
For example...the other night, I bumped into my good friend Chris Jones (formerly on QTN World News) at some swanky Hollywood soiree and he introduced me to one of the most stunning men I think I've ever met. See the hunk on the left? That's him.
His name is Tionne Myles, he's from Dallas, Texas and he's (what else?) a male model. He's not only absolutely gorgeous, he's as sweet as can be, no attitude what-so-every (talk about a rare find), and as smart as as whip - which makes him even more attractive (if you ask me).
Anyway...if you haven't seen him in the new Sean John ads yet, click HERE and see some of his jaw-dropping shots for yourself. He'll simply take your breath away.

It's Time To Throw In The Towel Sly

I just saw a preview of the upcoming film Rocky Balboa and I just have to ask...WHY? Does anyboy really want to see a 59 year-old Sylvester Stallone duke it out with some twenty-something power house on the silver screen again? Weren't five sequels enough? Obviously Sly has no intention of throwing in the towel just yet on his most famous role (and his pretty much dead career). Which you've got to admire him for. But it's just so sad to see.

Let The Music Play

Last weekend was all about going to outdoor concerts for yours truly and some of my friends.
Not only did I go to the fabulous Hollywood Bowl, with my friend Bob, to hear the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra play some brilliantly played classic movie scores (Casablanca, Cleopatra, and The Godfather) accompanied with fireworks, but my friends German Legarreta, David Arias, (seen in the photo on the left) and I got to go to the Starlight Bowl to hear my buddy Tito Puente Jr play some of his late father's greatest Mambo tunes!
Needless to say we all had a fun filled musical weekend.

Love That TV Tune

. This week's classic TV tune is from one of my favorite 1970 sitcoms. I hope you enjoy it.

BTW - did you know that Jason Ritter (the son if John) will star in his very own half-hour sitcom, this season, called The Class on CBS? Let's hope it's as funny as dear old dad's first sitcom was.

Hot Off The Press

Even though sexy former reality star, Reichen, new book ("Here's What We'll Say: A Memoir of Growing Up, Coming Out, and the U.S. Air Force") won't be in stores until October 1 you can now pre-order a copy of it on Amazon.com! What's it about? Here's the official book description... Reichen Lehmkuhl was playing the role of his life while in the Air Force. Not wanting to face a court martial for being gay, he had to live in a world where he had to watch everything he did and said for fear of being outed; and in another world where he was free to be himself. "One of the hardest things for me to reconcile was the fact that I was completely open with my family and friends but faced the very real possibility of being court martialed and going to jail if I was open with my 'work' colleagues." As Reichen explains, "The don't ask don't tell policy is so contradictory to what the Air Force and all the armed forces stand for ... but they force you to lie in order to serve your country." It was the contradictions which led Reichen to leave the Air Force once he completed his commitment. Happenstance brought Reichen to meet a friend at a Los Angeles restaurant where he was approached by the casting director for "The Amazing Race." Reichen believes his military training was extremely helpful in his winning the show's million dollar prize. So order your copy today by just clicking HERE. Hopefully, there'll be some hot photos of him (barely clothed of course) included so we can all drool to our hearts delight, while reading every titillating word of his amazing (no pun intended) life. Wink, wink.

Big Fat Dick At Fubar

Can you believe I forgot to post my last nightlife column in Frontiers Magazine? It just goes to show you how terribly busy I am these days.

Here you go...

Big Fat Dick At Fubar: Where Size Is King BY TONY MIROS

Every Thursday night a throng of sexy, size-obsessed partygoers crams into the darkly lit West Hollywood club Fubar to mix and mingle with the big boys and see who literally measures up, at a party aptly titled Big Fat Dick.

This extremely popular, fun-filled bash has been going strong for the past three years, not only because it features some incredible music spun masterfully by DJ Riley More and some of the hottest go-go boys in town, but because every week they hold a unique contest that not only separates the boys from the men, but awards the possessor of the largest—ahem— tool with a monumental prize provided by The Pleasure Chest.

Nightlife impresario Mario Diaz, who originated and promotes Big Fat Dick, calls this unconventional night of naughtiness “a dark, sexy, loud, and sleazy night of fun where you can come get drunk and laid.” When asked how he came up with the party’s provocative name, he said, “We named it after our mascot Richard [the grossly fat cartoon character seen in the party’s ads]. We call him Dick for short.”

Here’s how the party’s trademark weekly contest works: Contestants are escorted to the back room and drop their pants, and a digital picture is taken of their impressive attributes. The photos are then put up on the back wall, and the crowd decides whose member is prizeworthy. When asked if women are allowed to compete, Diaz nods and says, “Drunk straight girls love to show us their tits, and sometimes they do win the contest. But because the room is mainly filled with bossy bottoms, it’s usually the guy with the biggest cock that always wins.”

VITAL INFO

The Crowd: A fun mix of sexy muscle boys and naughty business professionals, with the occasional fag hag thrown in.

The Sound: Electro house breaks (everything from Avenue D and MU to Armand Van Helden, and of course a little Dirty Sanchez) with a sprinkle of diva vocals thrown in for fun.

Date Factor: Not the ideal place to take a date, unless you’re in search of someone a little bigger to take your date’s place.

Primo Pickup Spot: The party is one big cruise-fest, but we hear the back bar is the best place to find Mr. Right Now.

Celeb Factor: If you do spot a celeb here, it’s more than likely they won’t want you to recognize them. However, Janice Dickinson, Alan Cumming, Chad Allen, Peter Paige, and the Queer Eye boys have all been sighted at this naughty WeHo bash.

When: Every Thursday night. Doors open at 10 p.m., but it doesn’t get crowded until 11.

Where: Fubar, 7994 Santa Monica Blvd.

Table: If there isn’t a hot go-go boy dancing on, it then feel free to rest your drink on it.

Cover: It’s free.

Dallas Drama Continues

The Dallas remake drama continues...

As most of you already know sexy Latina actress/singer Jennifer Lopez is set to play evil oil man JR Ewing's (John Travolta) beautiful, yet extremely unhappy wife Sue Ellen in the big screen version of the classic 1980's TV soap.

But actress Linda Gray, who played Sue Ellen Ewing in the hit show, isn't exactly thrilled with the upcoming remake.

In an interview with WENN Gray said,“If they can achieve in two hours what we achieved in 11 years, good luck to them,” Gray told WENN. “I do think, come on, this is Hollywood. Be unique! Create something new.”

Oh well...I guess seeing her in a cameo in the upcoming film is now out of the question.

The Miser's Return!

Remember Heat Miser and Snow Miser from that fun 1970's claymation TV special "The Year Without A Santa Claus" when we were kids? Well...good news, NBC is doing a live action remake of it! That's right! Read this fun peice, about the project, that I just found on Zap 2it.

It may not be as well-known as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" or "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," but among Christmas-special fans of a certain age, "The Year Without a Santa Claus" has a definite cult following. Someone at NBC must like the Rankin-Bass production too, because the network has greenlit a live-action remake of the special, in which a burned-out Santa Claus decides to take a year off, throwing Christmas into chaos. Production on the two-hour movie is scheduled to begin next week in Louisiana. John Goodman ("Monsters, Inc.," "Roseanne") will star as Santa Claus and will be joined in the cast by Carol Kane, Ethan Suplee, Eddie Griffin and "Saturday Night Live" alumnus Chris Kattan. The story kicks off when a devious elf named Sparky (Kattan) tries to convince Santa that he has to keep up with our materialistic times. Reluctant to do so, and convinced no one believes in him anymore, Santa instead decides to just skip Christmas this year. The decision shocks two of Santa's most loyal elves, Jingle (Suplee, "My Name Is Earl") and Jangle (Griffin, "Date Movie," "Undercover Brother"), who head to South Town, USA, in an effort to find some kids who still believe in their boss. Their quest is complicated by Heat Miser and Snow Miser, the warring sons of Mother Nature (Kane, "The Princess Bride," "Taxi"). Heat Miser and Snow Miser, memorable characters voiced by George S. Irving and Dick Shawn in the 1974 animated special, haven't been cast yet. Ron Underwood ("City Slickers") will direct "The Year Without a Santa Claus." Mark Wolper (TNT's "Salem's Lot," "Penn & Teller: Bulls**t!") is executive producing. I don't know about you, but I'm dying to find out who they'll get to play those two crazy looking Miser's. Aren't you?

Memorable Movie Quote

Lorelei Lee: [Lorelei is holding a tiara] How do you put it around your neck? Dorothy Shaw: You don't, honey, it goes on your head! Lorelei Lee: You must think I was born yesterday. Dorothy Shaw: Well, sometimes there's just no other possible explanation. - Marilyn Monroe & Jane Russell in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Meet Shirley Jones In Person!

SPECIAL EVENT
THE MUSIC MAN Saturday, July 29 at 2 pm & 8 pm
The Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale
With special guest: SHIRLEY JONES at 8 pm only!
Trouble is coming to Glendale's Alex Theatre. That's right...the Warner Bros' 1962 classic musical adaptation of The Music Man, will be presented by the Alex Film Society at the historic Alex Theatre on July 29th.
If you've never seen it...Robert Preston plays "Professor" Harold Hill, a flim flam man who sees Iowa as the greatest test of his sales abilities as he arrives in River City, Iowa to sell the town on the idea that he can train the local youth to become a marching band using nothing but his very own "think system."
Everyone in the town falls for his proposition, everyone with the exception of the town librarian, Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones). Marian the Librarian becomes Hill's greatest obstacle, not only because she knows he is fake but also because Hill falls in love with her. What's a con man to do??
Preston, who originated the role both on Broadway and on screen, and Jones are just the leads in an all star case which includes Paul Ford, Hermione Gingold, Pert Kelton, Buddy Hackett, and a very young Ronny (Ron) Howard.
There will be a display of original props and wardrobe from The Music Man in the lobby of the theatre at both shows.
Guests of the evening show can get into a "turn of the century" mood through the vocal harmonies of local Barbershop Quartet "The Perfect Gentlemen", who will perform in the fore-court from 6:30-8:00 PM.
To round out the program, Mr. Magoo's classic 1956 short Meet Mother Magoo will be presented in CinemaScope prior to both presentations.

Brent Bares It All!

I just got an e-mail from hottie actor Brent Stevens inviting me to see him in a new play (with him doing some full frontal nudity in it) here in L.A.

Here's what it said....

-------------------------------------------------------

Hey Tony

I am performing one of the lead roles in the classic play "Balm in Gilead" However I will not be performing at every show so here are the dates on which you should come.

Shows at 8pm - Next Thursday the 13th and Sunday the16th. The following weekend either Friday the 21st or Saturday the 22nd, to be decided. If you can only come that weekend, let me know and I will update you on which performance will be me. Warning- the full nudity will be me! Dont worry it is brief and tasteful.

This famous play was written by Lanford Wilson in1965, and later directed by John Malkovich both in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Theater in 1980, and again in New York at the Circle Repertory Theater in 1984. It's quite original in concept, and challenging to perform as there are 25 actors on stage at once, engaging in simultaneous dialoge, with precise timing.

If you're unfamiliar with the play, Joe and Darlene have been changed to Joe and Daniel (Me). It does contain full-frontal nudity(Me again!), gay themes, foul language, and sexual content. Our story centers around the lives of hoodlums, drug dealers, prostitutes, and hustlers who congregate at a diner on Santa Monica Blvd. in modern Hollywood.

Imagine the bar "Cheers," but for lowlifes. It's a brilliant dramedy at which you'll find yourself laughing often.

"Balm in Gilead"is directed by Steven Helgothat and will be at The Underground Theater - 1312 N. Wilton Pl.Hollywood, CA 90028(between Fountain & Sunset) at 8:00 pm.

REGULAR ADMISSION: $15

Brent

Rue will portray Ryan's crazy yet wise grandmother in this half-hour show set to debut in 2007.

The OC Star And The Sexy Chef

Recently, Rachel Bilson (from the hit show The OC) presented Chef Yossi (he's the hottie on the left) to a stylish crowd of hipstirs at Hollywood’s hottest Southern food eatery, Memphis Restaurant, and helped raise close to $4,000 for the Los Angeles Mission (a nonprofit organization that serves the homeless living on the streets of downtown’s Hope Central known as Skid Row).

Celebs spotted throughout the night included Jeremy Piven, Eliza Dushku, Dustin Hoffman, Michelle Rodriguez, Adam Levine, Nina Kaczorowski, Nia Long, Tara Lipinski, German Legarreta, Rita Branch, Adam Brody, Tamara Feldman, Anthony Ghannam, Shauna Sand Lamas, Sara Lassez, Izabella Miko and James Wilder.

The star-studded crowd enjoyed hors d’oeuvres prepared by Yossi’s catering company, Off the Shelf, while they danced to music spun by special guest DJ Jake Hoffman (Dustin's son). Eliza Dushku and Dustin Hoffman enjoyed the food so much that they camped out in the catering truck!

BTW - Chef Yossi is the first chef to develop a patented odor-eliminating (love that) product line for professional chefs and at-home chefs alike. His new products include an anti-bacterial and odor eliminating liquid hand soap, hand moisturizer, burn cream and disposable towelettes.

Repo Man At The Cemetery

Ever seen a movie in a cemetery before? NO!
Well...this Saturday night you have to go see Repo Man at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (located behind the Paramount Pictures lot). I know it sounds like a creepy thing to do, but I promise you'll have a great time.
Part science fiction, part punk rock, Repo Man is one of my personal favorites. Emilio Estevez plays Otto, a punker who stumbles into the world of auto repossession, and joins in the hunt for a mysterious 64 Chevy Malibu worth a fortune. What is in the trunk of the Malibu, and why is it glowing? LA location shooting, one of the best Eighties soundtracks, and Harry Dean Stanton, who could ask for more?
Bring blankets, drinks and picnic dinner for this special screening below (and above) the stars. DJ Chris Curtis spins before and after the screening.
Saturday, July 8th
Gates open at 7:30 pm
Film starts at 9:00 pm
Hollywood Forever Cemetery
6000 Santa Monica Boulevard at Gower

They're looking for six girls to live by the beach in L.A. and work with each other to tackle aspects of their personalities that - while making them fabulous - tend to hold them back from success in relationships and careers.

To apply send your name, age, contact information, a recent photo and why you think you would be great for the show to badgirlscasting@hotmail.com.

The deadline is July 14th!!!

Good luck!

Harrison Ford At The W Hotel

I can't believe I forgot to mention my brush with Harrison Ford, this past Monday night, at the swanky W Hotel in Westwood.

I guess I've just been so busy lately with work that it simply slipped my mind.

Anyway...I went to the LA Film Festival filmmakers VIP cocktail reception, this past Monday, and as I entered the festivities I bumped right into Mr. Ford and his frightfully skinny girlfriend Calista Flockhart!

Unbeknownst to me he was there to do a welcome speech for all the filmmakers attending the festival. So after after a couple of Cosmo's my trusty photographer David and I went over to the podium to hear his speech. While he was on stage, I found myself standing next to Calista and that when David took the shot you see on the left.

Unfortunately, the moment Mr. Ford got off stage he was swarmed with other photographers and I never got a picture taken with him. Oh well...next time.

Anyway...here are some shots from the party. Enjoy!

These two English cuties were in LA to show their indie film.

Deliciously Devilish

I just saw The Devil Wears Prada and I all I have to say is that Meryl Streep deserves some sort of nomination for her brilliant performance in this fab film.

Not only is her delicately underplayed performance as the scariest " boss from hell" right on the mark (her on screen icy cold glances of anger were so menacing that they made the little hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up) , but between that killer white hair, killer designer clothes and killer presence on screen her Miranda Priestly character has got to be the greatest villianess in film history.

On a personal note...the costume designer on the film is my good friend Patricia Field (who was responsible for making those sexy girls on HBO's Sex And The City look so damn good) and I just sent her a rather lengthy e-mail telling her what a fabulous job I thought she did with it. I promise to publish her response to it here as soon as I get it.

So...if this wickedly fun film wasn't on your "must see" list, before today, then make sure to put it on the top of the list right now! It's that f**king good!

Beige Article

If you haven't had a chance to pick up this weeks' Frontiers Magazine yet and read yours truly's new nightlife column - then here it is for you to enjoy.

BEIGE: Sunset's Pretty People Party

By Tony Miros

Beige Hollywood (there's one in New York, too) isn't like the color: mediocre and bland. It attract a bevy of gorgeous, fashion-conscious boys and their equally stunning sugar daddies, week after week, and between the venue's stylish decor, unrestrictive indoor/outdoor layout, flattering lighting, and refreshing mix of underground dance music played throughout the night, this L.A. hot spot is where the high-end gay boys love to play. Started seven years ago by promoter Rusty Updegraff and DJ Victor Rodriguez, this always-crowded night has become the place for industry folk, models, pretty boys in Prada and the occasional celebrity to mix and mingle. It’s also the longest-running straight-friendly club night in town. “When Victor and I first started this party we wanted it to have a predominantly gay chic supper-club type of feel – which it still has,” says Updegraff. “It’s a bit more upscale than most other club nights, but everyone is welcome.” When asked if there was some sort of a dress code enforced at the door, he shakes his head no and adds, “If anything, people come dressed a little more alternative here than in most places. Anything goes, really. As long as you look cute and interesting, you’re in.” Along with the eclectic mix of dress (everything from a velvet suit with sneakers to a tight muscle T-shirt with plaid shorts and combat boots), Beige also features a refreshing mix of music, played by DJ Victor Rodriguez and resident DJ Lawrence Petty. “The music changes all the time,” says Rodriguez, “I like to play a lot of underground stuff, but every so often I’ll throw in a little Chaka Khan and even some Led Zeppelin, just to keep the crowd going.” When asked if that’s one of the reasons why people keep coming back week after week, he says, “Definitely! They know they’re not going to hear this type of music played anywhere else. You’re not going to hear any Pop or Top 40 on this night.” After outliving most other hot spots, Beige seems to have become something of an institution for trendy L.A. club-goers, one which, for some of us, requires a six-day ritual of pumping iron, nonstop primping, and the endless hunt for the perfect outfit to show off at next week’s "pretty boys on parade" jamboree. Think that’ll stop any of us from going back? Never!

VITAL INFO The Crowd: Ultra-cool gay boys, models, industry types, and the occasional celebrity.

The Sound: Underground dance music - with the occasional Zeppelin thrown in just for fun.

Date Factor: Too much eye candy around for that – unless you’re looking for a third join in.

Primo Pick Up Spot: Side smoking area, on the ramp, leading up to the dinning-room entrance.

Celeb Factor: Pam Anderson, Janet Jackson, Lindsey Lohan and even Apprentice star Omorosa (whom I happened to bump into) have been spotted here.

When: Every Tuesday beginning at 9pm

Where: The Falcon, 7213 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood; 323-850-5350; www.falconslair.com

Table: Dinner reservations suggested from 7pm to 9pm; after that, seating is open.

Returning To The Hospital

Here's a fun item I thought you guys might like. It's from the folks over at Cynopsis....
Okay, GH fans - this one's for you: Another character from the past will return to daytime TV when Genie Francis reprises her famous role of Laura Spencer on ABC's General Hospital in mid-October.
Genie's arrival in Port Charles will coincide with ABC Daytime's 25th anniversary celebration of the wedding of Luke and Laura.
That episode, which aired on November 16, 1981 to be exact and watched by more than 30 million viewers, still holds the record today as being the most watched daytime TV show in television history.

Super Celeb Sighting

I had a fabulous celeb sighting yesterday.

After work, a few of my co-workers and I went to a small coffee house in Burbank - Paty's - to hang out and unwind. Suddenly, one of my co-workers grabbed my arm and pointed in the direction of two men sitting at a table, talking. I, of course, zoomed in on their faces and to my surprise there sat the sexy James Marsden engulfed in conversation with a friend!

Talk about freaky. I'd just seen him in Superman Returns and there he was sitting there in flesh. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera on me and I'm not the type of person to go up to a celeb and ask for an autograph, so after the initial shock of seeing him subsided we all ordered our latte's and went about our business.

Ok...so we sat at a table with a perfect view of his...and we did glance over there every-so-often just see what he was doing, but that's all. I swear. Wink, wink.
