Carrie Fisher's "Wishing Drinking"

Carrie Fisher, the child of two Hollywood stars (Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher), began life with everything going for her -- and lived life with a lot going against her: addiction, manic depression, drug overdose, rehab, having a child with a man who forgot to tell her he was gay, mental institutions -- and let's not forget that signature Star Wars hairdo!
From these experiences came a new world-premiere one-woman show called Wishful Drinking which will be running, from January 4th though January 6th, at the Geffen Playhouse.

Celeb Sighting - Chazz Palinteri

Here's a fun item sent to me from my fabulous nocturnal spies in New York. Enjoy.

A sedate and gentlemanly Chazz Palminteri was spotted at Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club Friday evening sans drinking buddy Billy Baldwin and instead with a non-show biz type male friend.

Chazz was seen innocently chatting up two buxom blonde businesswomen in their 30's as they toasted the holidays with Sambuca (compliments of Chazz) while being interrupted by Chazz groupies who invited themselves to sit down.

Ever the gentleman, Chazz took the hazards of fame in his stride and continued to enjoy the evening until at least 2am.

A Night Of Classics - "One Night Only"

On Sunday, January 14th, one of Los Angeles’ most successful benefit dance events returns to Hollywood.
If My Friends Could See Me Now was a yearly dance benefit event held at the Probe Nightclub from 1988 until 1996. The event was consistently a sell-out event heavily supported by the community.
This year the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force will be the beneficiary of 100% of the door proceeds.
The upcoming If My Friends Could See Me Now will be titled One Night Only, as the event is re- launched Sunday, January 14, 2007. One Night Only will have classic music as in past years but will be held at a new venue, the historic Avalon Hollywood (formerly the Palace Theater).
The event will feature two of the country’s most legendary DJs, Michael Fierman and Robbie Leslie. Fierman and Leslie will be spinning side by side from 9 pm until 6 am and will feature a special “morning music” set between the hours of 4 am to 6 am. As with past events there will be a special performer singing one of the huge classic dance hits of the era.
General admission pre-sale tickets will be $ 35.00 ($50 at the door day of event if available). VIP Tickets will be $100, and include a private cocktail reception in the Spider Room with DJs Lydia Prim and Bryan Pfeifer spinning.
There will be a hosted VIP bar from 9 pm until 11 pm. VIP ticket holders will be provided access to all VIP areas of the club throughout the night. Tickets will be available online at wantickets and johnbradypresents and Perfect Beat Records and Power Zone in West Hollywood as of January 1, 2007.
I'll be there. Will you?

Helen Mirren In-Person Tribute

On January 12 - 13 the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre will present an in-person tribute to actress Helen Mirren, featuring a screening of the acclaimed THE QUEEN, as well as some of her earlier work, including CAL (1984, Warner Bros., 102 min.) which won Mirren a Best Actress Award in Cannes and AGE OF CONSENT (1969, Sony Repertory, 103 min.) co-starring James Mason. Neither of these films are available on DVD.
If you haven't seen acclaimed film The Queen yet here's your chance top see it before it wins the Golden Globe Awards and the Oscar nominations are announced.
Set in 1997, the film details the bond of trust that slowly develops between the 71-year-old Queen Elizabeth - humanized by the Oscar-caliber performance of Helen Mirren in the title role - and prime minister, Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) following the death of Princess Diana.
Tickets for this special event are available online by clicking HERE.
See you there!

Funny Christmas Movie Quote

Clark: Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas.
No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye.
And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.
-Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation (1989)

Masterbeat Records X-Mas Party

Christmas is just around the corner and it seems everyone is scurrying about searching for those last minute gifts. Including yours truly. But that hasn't stopped me from going to a slew of fun-filled Christmas parties around town. For example, last Saturday night, my buddy DJ Brett Henrichsen invited me to the Masterbeat Records X-Mas party, at their gorgeous new offices in Hollywood - which he happens to own.
Spotted thoughout the festivities were party promoter extraordinarie, Jeffrey Sanker, the Avalon's very own John Brady, Tango Blues entertainment guru Andrew Briskin, "Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds" star Brett Chukerman, and sexy LA party promoter Tom Whitman among others. Below are some photos taken at the swanky soiree for you to enjoy.

Logo Wants You!

I just got an e-mail from the folks over at LOGO asking me to help find them a new spokesmodel.
That’s right, MTV Networks premier gay and lesbian channel is looking for real people to be the face of their new print ad campaign!
Interested? Here's the scoop directly from their e-mail....

Since “SEE YOURSELF, BE YOURSELF” is Logo’s motto, we decided to reach out to the community and give all who identify as LGBTQI – or our sympathetic straight allies – a chance to truly be seen. And since we come in all shapes, sizes, ages and colors that is exactly what we are looking for. Whether you are a doctor, farmer, trombone player, scientist, cowboy, pastry chef, boxer, model train enthusiast, swimmer, Mensa member, firefighter, elementary school teacher, retired Vegas dancer, janitor, twin, lumberjack, proud parent or an accountant we want to see your face! If you are interested in being featured in Logo’s new print ad campaign, please send us an email ASAP to: seeyourselflogo@yahoo.com In the email include: Name Age (we won’t tell) Contact information: all phone numbers and home address Profession and hobbies Relationship status 2 RECENT photos: one of your face, one head to toe If chosen, there is a possibility you will be included in a video project for the network. You may be asked to express your thoughts, opinions or some part of your personality. Therefore we cannot use anyone who is either SAG or AFTRA. Although viewers like you have helped make Logo’s first year a huge success, our budgets are still modest. If you are selected, you must be able to get yourself to Los Angeles, California the week of January 8th – most probably Tuesday the 9th. For your time and effort you will be compensated $100 and asked to sign a release form. This is a unique opportunity for you to represent yourself and others like you in the gay community. We can’t wait to see your beautiful faces :-)

Good luck!

Dylan's Spooky Spinoff TV Show

.
As most of you already know - my roommate, Dylan Vox, has a recurring role in the surprise supernatural soap opera Dante's Cove on Here! Television. Think Dark Shadows meets Queer As Folk.
His character, Colin, (a mysterious fellow intent on causing a lot of trouble) appears on the show's second season that's playing now on the network. If you haven't already seen the show, just click above and watch the trailer for season two. It's sure to get you hooked.
Anyway, a few weeks back he learned that the network was going to produce a spinoff called Dante's Lair and that his character (who turns out to be an evil vampire) is one of the major people on it! So, for the past couple of weeks, he's been heading down to the studio to act his sexy little heart out (with custom made fangs and all) in front of the cameras. I'm so proud of him.
Starring opposite him on the goth soap is former gay porn star/ now turned pop singer Colton Ford (YUM!) as the hunky town sheriff - who I've had the biggest crush on for years and I can't wait to meet at the cast wrap party.
So...congrats to you roomie for finally getting your big break. Now take me out to some fancy Hollywood restaurant to celebrate (on you, of course) you big ham. Love ya!

That's A Wrap!

After several months of interviewing thousands of possible cast members, from all over the country, the casting process for The Real World 19 and Road Rules 14 is finally over! That's right...this past Friday, the next seven roommates for the new Real World house and the next six Road Rules cast members were officially selected over at Bunim/Murray Productions. And let me tell you...you're going to LOVE each and every one of them. Unfortunately, this means that "yours truly" is about to stand in that horrible unemployment line (UGH). But luckily, for the past couple of weeks, I've had talks with some other top reality shows about joining their casting departments, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll be announcing what new show I've moved to and who wants me to put them on TV. As far as what city RW19 will be in... The only thing I can say (without being served with papers) is that it won't be in Denver. Wink, wink.

Celeb Sighting - Chris Noth

Last monday night, a good friend of mine spotted Mr. Big AKA Chris Noth at Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club in New York for a guy ' s night out without a woman in sight.
Once ensconced in one of the venue's plush banquettes, the waiters promptly brought over Cosmopolitans in honor of the signature "Sex and the City" drink. Upon sipping the cosmo, Noth chuckled, "too sweet" please bring back what we were originally drinking."
Apparently the next few rounds of libations satisfied Noth and his male posse who stayed until the restaurant ' s closing at 2:30am enjoying themselves sans female companions.

Tori's Posh Garage Sale

Things must be rough for Tori Spelling since daddy, Aaron, passed away. Why? Because, this past weekend, she held a chi-chi garage sale at her home in Studio City.
Spelling spoke only with Access Hollywood about her weekend estate sale, where due to her recent marriage and baby on the way she said it was time for a change. The interview will air tomorrow - Tuesday, December 12th (Log on to AccessHollywood.com to check local time and stations). “My style has changed,” Spelling explained. “It’s all shabby chic and very girl, cute and represents about 12 years of my life. My style is modern now and I’m married, a baby on the way. What do you do when you have 12 years worth of furniture from a house, an apartment? You have a sale.” Hundreds of people lined up outside her Studio City, CA home over this past weekend to buy various items right from her house. “People were great,” Spelling said. “This feels kind of weird selling my stuff. I don’t know how I feel about it. But people were just so happy that they were getting a part of my life, a part of me, that it made me feel better. People seemed really happy and I had a great time interacting with people.” Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott are expecting their first child this spring.
I hope what they made from the posh yard sale will allow them to, at least, buy baby Spelling some knock-off Prada diapers. Wink, wink

The Apprentice Comes To L.A.

One of favorite reality show's "The Apprentice" moves to southern California for season six of the unscripted series, leaving Manhattan for the first time in the history of the show.
Donald Trump will once again do the firing – and the hiring – as 18 enterprising candidates vie for the coveted title of "The Apprentice." This season’s Apprentice cast ranges in age from 24-37. Two major twists you can expect this season: Each week, the winning team will live in a mansion, while the losing team sleeps in the back yard of the mansion in tents, with outdoor showers and port-a-potties. To shake things up even more, the winning project manager each week will remain project manager until they lose, plus they will also sit in the boardroom and help advise "The Donald" on who he should fire each week from their opposing team.
The Apprentice 6 will air Sundays @ 9PM ET/PT on NBC beginning Jan. 7.
OK...so I'm still upset that Trump's blond 36-year old sidekick Carolyn Kepcher and 78-year old real estate lawyer George Ross have been replaced by Trump's annoying daughter Ivanka and his equally annoying son Don Jr. (both of whom pretty much sucked last season when they stepped in every-so-often on the show), but I still can't wait to see all the fun boardroom backstabbing this coming season.
Let the firing begin!

Holiday Party At Privilege

The holiday season is here and that means only one thing...it's party time!

Case in point, on Sunday, December 17th, two of L.A.'s hottest party promoters David Cooley and Jeffrey Sanker are throwing "a very merry holiday dance party" at one of the Sunset Strip's most popular nightclubs - Privilege.

This fun-filled night not only features the sweat inducing music of DJ Ray Rhodes and some of the sexiest go-go boys on the planet, but complimentary admission as well (you gottah love that)! Doors open at 8pm.

Holding Mario Lopez

Breaking Industry News
The CW has signed a talent holding deal with Mario Lopez, the dimpled runner up from Dancing with the Stars who also happened to bare his luscious dimpled derriere on the hit FX show Nip/Tuck this past season. YUM! From what my sources say the deal will cast Lopez in a pilot for next season, or develop a series for him. Hopefully, this new series will allow him to expose more of his incredible body parts for all of us to enjoy week after week. I'm crossing my fingers. ;-)

"Legends" Tickets Go On Sale

For only 2 weeks - from January 16 - 28, 2007 - legendary divas Joan Collins and Linda Evans will star in a new comedy called Legends at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills!
Legends, a comedy by Tony Award®-winning James Kirkwood (author of A Chorus Line), centers on two somewhat desperate and waning movie stars: Sylvia (Collins) and Leatrice (Evans).
Both actresses are courted by an unscrupulous producer to co-star in his Broadway show, despite the fact that they have hated each other for decades. He convinces both ladies to go along by misleading each of them into believing that they will be starring in the show with Paul Newman.
This hilarious set-up provides the background for the full-blown comic confrontation between these two stage divas and the surprising and riotous resolution, played to the hilt by the two stars who the world remembers as Alexis & Krystal Carrington from the hit television series Dynasty.
Tickets go on sale, to the general public, this Sunday at 10AM. And all you have to do to get yours is to click HERE or call 213.365.3500 or 714.740.7878.
See you there!

Mr. Sulu Goes 'Beyond'

At times, living in Hollywood can be quite surreal.
For example, today, I had brush with out actor, George Takei (Mr. Sulu from Star Trek), over at the Sunset & Vine Mall shopping at the Bed, Bath & Beyond store.
Out of the blue, I found myself right behind him (no pun intended) at the register - as he was purchasing a new iRobot® Roomba® Discovery Vacuuming Robot . How futuristic of him.
By the way - he's not as tall as you'd think he'd be and he was wearing a simple sweat jacket and cords. But it wasn't until I heard his rather distinctive booming voice that I recognized him. Actually, I almost expect him to state something Trekkie-ish like "photon torpedoes loaded" or "live long and prosper." Instead he just told the cashier to "charge it."
Only in Hollywood.

Crispin Glover's Unusual New Film

Remember quirky actor Crispin Glover from films such as "Back To The Future" and "Charlie Angels"? Well, he's back on the big screen in a film called "What Is It?"only this time he not only stars in it, but he directs it as well.

If you haven't heard about it yet that's because Glover has been touring the country showing his independent feature at film festivals and at special screenings around the country including New York, San Francisco and Chicago. Lucky for us his next stop on the tour will be at the historic Egyptian Theater on December 8th, 9th, and 10th in Hollywood.

preceding each screening Glover dramatically narrates his "Big Slide Show," which features illustrations and commentary from eight of his books - Rat Catching, Oak Mot, and What Is It, and How It Is Done. Glover also hosts a Q&A after the film so you can ask him for yourself "what this weird film is?"

Which is exactly what I did at the special "press only" screening last week. And yes, he is as quirky and usual in person as he is on screen.

Anyway the film features a cast largely comprised of actors with Down Syndrome, however the film is not about Down Syndrome. Glover describes it as "Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home, as tormented by an hubristic racist inner psyche." He also explains that the film is his psychological reaction to corporate controls of expression limiting the exploration of taboo.

In other words, the film is WAY strange and will make squirm in your seat at times, but if you stay afterwards for the Q&A Glover's thoughts on the film should hopefully clear things up for you. It did for me.

For more information, to find out times, ticket prices, and how to purchase them go to the Egyptian's website.

Memorable Movie Quote

Miranda Priestly: ...You have no sense of fashion...
Andy Sachs: I think that depends on...
Miranda Priestly: No, no, that wasn't a question.
- Meryl Streep (Miranda) and Anne Hathaway (Andy) in The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
