Micky's In Flames!

West Hollywood nightlife will never be the same - Micky's, the popular gay watering hole on Santa Monica Blvd, went up in flames today!
KNBC- TV reports "One person was rescued from the second story of the building, said county fire Inspector Sam Padilla. It was not immediately known if the person was seriously injured." They add, "the fire was reported at 4:24 p.m. Firefighters doused the blaze and prevented it from spreading the nearby structures."
Oh well..I guess the queens will have to find another hotspot (no pun intended) to tip their favorite go-go boys and booze it up.
Fubar, here we come.

The Return of Tony Montana?

When we last saw Cuban exile and Miami gangster Tony Montana, his cocaine-fueled body was riddled with bullets in the 1983 Brian DePalma cinematic classic, Scarface. Now, IDW Publishing is reviving Tony Montana, in the sequel to the end-all-be-all of gangster movies, with an all-new graphic novel - Scarface: Scarred for Life - available in bookstores and comic stores in July.
The blood-soaked tale picks up where the movie left off, as Tony Montana survives - yes, you read that right - but just barely. Having lost almost everything - including, of course, very nearly his life - Tony must once again claw his way to the top of the sun-drenched Florida underworld. If the chips were piled against the gangster before, he now stands in the shadow of odds stacked twice as high.
"The story is indeed over-the-top, and it is funnier and more darkly comic than the movie," says John Layman, the writer of the series. "Times have changed since the movie. And what was shocking in 1983 is a little more commonplace today. So you're going to see some very creative murders - and if you have any sort of decency in your soul, you're going to feel bad for laughing as hard as you do when you read this stuff."
In addition, this July, Montana fans can also now enjoy the original screenplay, unedited and presented in its entirety. Timed to coincide with the release of Scarred for Life, IDW will publish a 6" x 9" version of Oliver Stone's original movie script with Scarface: The Movie Scriptbook - the first time it has been published. This is the ultimate companion to sequel and the best way to relive the epic 1980s movie staple of greed, success and excess. The scriptbook will be available in mid-July, the same month IDW will also release the first issue of a comic book prequel series entitled Scarface: Devil In Disguise.
Prequels, sequels or scripts…anything a Scarface fan can want, all available in July!

First Bond Dies

Associated Press reports...

Actor Barry Nelson, an M-G-M contract player during the 1940s who later had a prolific theater career and was the first actor to play James Bond on screen, has died. He was 89.

His wife, Nansi Nelson, says her husband died last Saturday in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, while traveling. The cause of death is not yet known.

Nelson entered the Army during World War Two and went on the road with other actors performing the wartime play ``Winged Victory,'' which was later made into a movie starring Red Buttons, George Reeves and Nelson.

After the war., Nelson starred in a string of movies such as ``Undercover Maisie,'' ``Time to Kill'' and ``Tenth Avenue Angel.''

He is also the answer to the trivia question: Who was the first actor to play James Bond? Before Sean Connery was tapped to play the British agent on the big screen in ``Dr. No,'' Nelson played Bond in a one-hour T-V adaptation of ``Casino Royale'' in 1954.

YOU'RE BALD!

It wasn't the outcome that I was hoping for, but The Donald got to shave Vince McMahon's head at Wrestlemania 23.
Love the picture though. Hilarious!

Hollywood On Fire!

Look at this frightening photo, taken this afternoon!
Yes....that is smoke rising behind the Hollywood sign on Mount Lee. Apparently, there's a brush fire in the Universal City area.
Looks like a scene right out of a disaster film, doesn't it?
Scary!

The Faux Gucci Ad Guy

Some people will do anything to be in the spotlight.

Case in point, the sexy hunk posing on the left conned the Swiss weekly SonntagsZeitung into printing his fake Gucci ad and forwarding the $50,000 bill to the ultra-luxury designer.

Anyway, no one is quite sure who or where he is, but you've got to admire his cojones (that means "balls" for all you non Spanish-speaking folks) for trying such an elaborate stunt. It's a wonder some other queen hadn't thought of it already.
